3KCBWDAY3: My Heroes

I admire anyone, especially these days, who can envision new ways to use our beloved crafts of knitting and crocheting. I will always admire the work of Elizabeth Zimmermann for its common sense and timeless style. I include here the book most recently published of EZ's "lost" designs using garter stitch, Knit One, Knit All, but also Knit Knit by Sabrina Gschwandtner, because it includes many of my favorite "outside-the-box" thinking designers.

I am constantly amazed by the work of all these ladies.

I can't wait to see what they come up with next, can you?

So do I, especially Norah Gaughan. And by the way, it's Elizabeth Zimmermann - 2 N's at the end :)

I love Knit One, Knit All. EZ's no nonsense way of talking about knitting is very empowering. I feel like I can do no wrong as a knitter.

I agree, they're all amazing! I think EZ is my favorite, but I also love Norah Gaughan's unique designs.

I think you hit it right on the nail with EZ... I don't think there's anyone who knows who she is who doesn't admire the sheer talent that woman had.

Debbie New is a knitting badass.

I'd be interested to know why you consider them to be 'outside the box' designers :-)

I love being introduced to all these new names (new to me, that is)
Thanks for sharing your heroes

Thanks to everyone for stopping by! Instead of trying to respond to each comment this week (what a party!), I've been trying to visit your blogs and comment there. I just HAD to step in though, and say...Vivianne, just have a look at the body of work of any one of these designers and you will see why. Their work speaks for itself. To me, these are radical thinkers and creative people. See you all soon in your comments list! (Those of you who have blogs that will allow it, that is!)

Thanks for sharing. I wasn't aware of many of these designers. (I haven't been knitting all that long.) Your blog has a clean, appealing appearance, too.

Some known and not known names so I'm excited to check out these designers.
Looks like a great book. I'll have to check it out.

I took a class with Annie Modesitt. She's a real fun teacher! I laughed so much during my class. I loved how she told us to not say I can't do this, but to instead say I can't do this yet.
