Use the needle that ...Hi, A Nonny Mouse! (old joke)<br />Use the needle that gets you 4 stitches to the inch, the gauge for worsted-weight yarn. I usually use size 7, because the stitch pattern is just Stockinette Stitch, but it depends on how loosely or tightly you knit, so maybe do a gauge swatch with size 8 and then adjust from there.
